Utility Sentry
Written By Bill Guy
February 1992
This program is presented as is. The Author assumes no responsibility for
any damages caused by this program. This is a Free Ware Program. (You don't
have to pay to use this program.) All rights are reserved by the author.
I wrote this program as a place to keep all the information from the
utility bills that were in our filing cabinet. We had all the utility bills
from 1973 taking up space in the file drawer. After entering them into the
Utility Sentry, we threw them out!
Here's What's Tracked:
Electric Bills - Cost Amount, KW Hours Used, Billing Load
Gas Bills - Cost Amount, Budget Amount (usually what we paid), Cubic
Feet Used
Water Bills - Water Cost Amount, Cubic Feet Used, Sewer Cost Amount,
Trash Cost Amount
Telephone Bills - Basic Local Service Cost Amount, Inside State Long
Distance Charges, Outside State Long Distance Charges,
And the same categories for a Second Line.
Cable Tv Bills - Basic Service Cost Amount, Seperate Cost Amounts for 2
Premium Services
All review screens show 12 months at a time. All reports print the entered
categories for a selected year. (You pick the year at print time.) One yearly
report for each utility. Each Report shows yearly totals plus some monthly
and daily averages. Reports are printed ASCII and should print on all
printers attached to LP1. There is also a Grand Total Report that shows each
utility and it's costs for the year, average for the month, and average for
a day. This Yearly Grand Total Report can be shown on the screen or printed
to the printer.
Once in the porgram, ESC will back you out of anywhere you are. When
showing a listing for a utility, use the arrow keys to move up and down thru
the listing. Enter edits the highlighted record, Insert adds a record, and
Delete deletes a record after confirmation. Ctrl Page Up takes you to the
top of the list and Ctrl Page Down takes you to the bottom of the list.
It was interesting after entering all the data in to see how the different
utility costs went up, and how often!
